MND Victoria has focused on care and support programs to improve the lives of thousands of families impacted by MND for the last 44 years.
At MND Victoria, we pride ourselves in knowing that everyone in Victoria, no matter if they live regionally or in the city, have access to the same comprehensive level of support, care, and equipment from MND Victoria. These services can drastically improve the quality of life for someone with MND. We have seen time and time again the impact of being able to provide the right care at the right time. We can only provide these life changing services because of the wonderful generosity and involvement from our community.
These support services include, but are not limited to:
MND Advisors provide support to people living with MND to assist them to live as long as possible with the best quality of life possible.
MND Victoria has developed an extensive range of assistive technology equipment, available free of charge to people with MND.
The Client Support and Education Service provides comprehensive education and information support to people impacted by MND. Support groups, information sessions and educational programs are available for anyone impacted by MND to join.
Volunteers are the heart of MND Victoria. Our volunteers bring a wealth of knowledge together with a wide range of skills and experiences to MND Victoria. Volunteers enhance the work of staff and help provide opportunities for improved quality of life for people living with MND and their families.
When someone is diagnosed with MND, their loved ones are also living with this disease. It is important that carers also receive the information, support and assistance they need to manage the caring role. We have a range of supports available both online and in person that are facilitated by our dedicated Carer Support Team.
We have recently expanded our services to include an in-house counsellor who provides emotional adjustment support and advice to people impacted by MND.
Bruce is living with MND and shared his story to help raise awareness and funds for MND Victoria last year. When asked why Bruce wanted to share his story, he said:
“It’s the services. It’s the individual care. It actually impacts my life and changes it for the better. The other fundraising around finding a cure is important and great to have, but MND Victoria actually impacts the day-to-day lives of people living with MND. They change it to a positive. A cure may come, and we need to spend money on it, but we also need to spend money on the well-being of people with MND and what we can do now.”
