It's time to Shut Up! and raise awareness of motor neurone disease (MND)
Are you ready to take on The Challenge?
Shut Up! For MND is a unique way to bring attention to what many Victorians living with MND face on a daily basis. Each MND journey is different, but a number of people will lose their voice and become reliant on other forms of communication.
So, we are challenging YOU to not speak for 6 or 12 hours on Thursday 29th September 2022 and to nominate a friend to join. If your friend does not want to Shut Up!, they can donate to you instead.
Workplaces are also encouraged to join in and adopt this challenge for their office hours. Visit our workplace registration page. As well as supporting Victorians with MND, this challenge also encourages and promotes mental wellbeing for employees in light of current feelings of lockdown fatigue and technology overload. Imagine how wonderful it would be to have some time without meetings or phone calls.
All money raised through The Shut Up! For MND Challenge directly supports Victorians living with MND by funding the direct care, support and vital assistive equipment required to help them live better for longer.
MND is a progressive, degenerative disease that attacks the nerves that support movement, speech, swallowing and breathing. There is currently no known cause, treatment, or cure, and the average life expectancy after diagnosis is 27 months.
